Gazda ceremoniei a fost cântăreața rap Doja Cat, cunoscută pentru piesele „Say So” și „Kiss Me More”.

Show-ul VMA a marcat debutul artistei în calitate de gazdă a evenimentului și va fi transmis LIVE în peste 180 de țări. Mai mult, artista și compozitoarea Kacey Musgraves, care a câștigat șase premii Grammy, și-a făcut debutul mult așteptat la ediția din acest an, cu o interpretare în premieră mondială a piesei sale „Star-crossed”.

La gala de duminică seară, Madonna a fost elementul surpriză. Vedeta şi-a făcut apariţia, spre surprinderea publicului, în deschiderea show-ului.

Evenimentul a debutat cu un videoclip în care cântăreaţa şi-a trecut în revistă cariera care a început în aceeaşi perioadă cu cea a postului MTV, pe 1 august 1981. Pe ritmul piesei „Vogue”, supranumita „regină a muzicii pop” a apărut pe scenă purtând un costum din piele, scrie news.ro.

Printre artiștii care au urcat pe scenă la MTV Video Music Awards pentru a susţine recitaluri s-au numărat Camila Cabello, Chlöe (de la Chloe x Halle), care şi-a făcut debutul solo, Jack Harlow, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Kacey Musgraves, The Kid Laroi, Lil Nas X, Machine Gun Kelly, Olivia Rodrigo, Ozuna, Shawn Mendes, Tainy şi Twenty One Pilots.

Machine Gun Kelly a fost implicat, înaintea galei, într-o altercaţie cu Conor McGregor, campion UFC.

„McConor era gata să împartă pumni”, a spus un martor, potrivit People. Toată povestea a început atunci când pugilistul a vrut să facă o fotografie cu MGK, însă echipa artistului a refuzat, mai scrie sursa citată.

Au urmat gesturi prin care el şi-a arătat nemulţumirea şi, potrivit Page Six, McConor a aruncat o băutură pe MGK.
