Wentworth Miller nu va mai juca în serialul „Prison Break”

 Wentworth Miller a dat vestea fanilor săi printr-un mesaj postat pe Instagram declarând că a decis să nu mai accepte roluri de heterosexual. 

„Oficial ies din Prision Break. 

Nu mai doresc să joc roluri de heterosexuali. Poveștile lor au fost spuse și răspuse Deci, nici un alt Michael. Dacă sunteți fani ai serialului și sperati la noi sezoane, va inteleg dezamagirea. Imi pare rau. Dacă sunteți furioși că v-ați îndrăgostit de un personaj fictiv interpretat de un gay, e fix problema voastră”, a scris Miller.

Supportive. Appreciated (by me). Obviously there are comments and DMs I appreciate less. Who are these people? On my page? What backwards-ass, Stone Age values country did they crawl out of? But I take seriously the possibility of queer kids visiting here, recently out of the closet or exploring the idea… I don’t want them exposed to bullshit. On a related note… I’m out. Of PB. Officially. Not bec of static on social media (although that has centered the issue). I just don’t want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told). So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons… I understand this is disappointing. I’m sorry. If you’re hot and bothered bec you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one… That’s your work. – W.M. 🏳️‍🌈

Colegul său, Dominic Purcell i-a răspuns lui Miller printr-un mesaj de susținere:

„A fost amuzant amice. Ce aventură am trăit. Te sprijin întru totul și își înțeleg argumentarea. Sunt bucuros că ai luat această decizie pentru sănătatea și adevărul tău. Te iubesc, frate”. 

După ani de zile în care s-a speculat în privinţa orientării sale sexuale, protagonistul serialului „Prison Break’, Wentworth Miller, a mărturisit în 2013 că este homosexual, într-o scrisoare trimisă organizatorilor Festivalului Internaţional de Film St. Petersburg.

;In scrisoarea facută publică la vremea respectivă, actorul a povestit despre depresia severă prin care a trecut, despre bullingul la care a fost supus din cauza orientării sale sexuale și a anunțat că și-a facut un scop din a-i sprijini pe cei asemeni lui, ca să nu mai treacă prin toate aceste momente extrem de grele.
